Tim Jordan Returning To Waterford Speedbowl Next Week In Late Model Competition

WATERFORD – Keith Rocco won’t be in competition next week at the Waterford Speedbowl, but it won’t mean a week off for his Late Model team at the shoreline oval.

Rocco’s Late Model team owner, Scott Fearn, will be fielding a car July 28 at Waterford for former division champion and now Valenti Modified Racing Series regular Tim Jordan.

Jordan will drive a Fearn owned backup Late Model in his return to weekly division action at the track.

“It’s going to be fun,” Jordan said. “I practiced Keith’s Late Model last week when he was in Loudon and I forgot how much fun the cars were to drive. It was way different than a Tour Type Modified and it was actually fun getting back in a car with less horsepower because I feel like I can drive it even harder than I ever did before.”

Jordan, of Plainfield, won Late Model championships at Waterford in 2006 and 2010. After winning his second championship Jordan made the jump the Valenti Modified Racing Series. Jordan said right now it’s a one-race deal with Fearn that could turn into more going forward this season.

“It should be good,” said Jordan, who had 22 Late Model victories over five seasons in the divison at Waterford. “We’re going through the car. we took it to my shop. Scott said if I prepped it and got it ready I could race it so that’s we’re doing. There’s no real plan right now. I think if I go good in it we’ll keep running it. There’s no ground rules, no set plan. I think we’re just going to come down here and have fun and see how it goes.”

Jordan skipped the last two Valenti Modified Racing Series events but will return to action in that division Thursday at Thompson International Speedway.

“It was just time to kind of recoup,” Jordan said of skipping the last two VMRS events. “We’ve had horrible luck, been in a lot of wrecks. We just took the two weeks off and we’ve been working to get everything ready again. We were at a point where we needed to take two weeks off to make sure we could run the rest of the season.”
