Valenti Modified Racing Series Adds Assistant Race Director Position

With frustration mounting across the series over numerous events this season being plagued by a multitude of on-track issues, Valenti Modified Racing Series officials have decided to add a new position in the management of the division.

Chris Rock, operations manager for the series confirmed that the Valenti Modified Racing Series has added Guy Beaudoin as its new assistant racing director.

Beaudoin will serve as an assistant to racing director and series director Pete Newsham, who took on those roles last year after the unexpected death of former series director John Hoyt.

Beaudoin, of Stafford, is a former Late Model team owner and has served in numerous capacities as an official and crew member through a long history around short tracks.

“[Pete] does an awesome job,” Rock said. “He does good at coordinating everything, but this year has been a very trying year with all the new teams. This is going to take pressure off of Pete.”

Beaudoin will start in the position at the the Ricky Miller Memorial 112 Saturday at Canaan Fair Speedway in Canaan, N.H.

“I can bring a fair eye to this position,” Beaudoin said. “I’ve been on both side of the fences, so I know what it’s like to be a car owner and an official and understand the frustrations there can be on both sides.”

Said Rock: “He knows the rulebook, he knows how we operate, he’s been following us since day one and he knows what needs to happen and what doesn’t need to happen. We can only go forward. We have to go forward and make us look good. I’m hoping Pete will be a little more relaxed.”

Issues with aggressive tactics on the track have plagued the division through much of the first six races of the season. It reached a boiling point at Lee USA Speedway on June 29th when three race leaders were wrecked out of the top spot by aggressive tactics over the final 20 laps.

“I don’t want us to look like we’re the wreckfest Tour this season,” Rock said. “We have good officials, but we need to get more control. Guy’s not going to let anybody bully him which is going to be great. I don’t want to see any of this nonsense stuff. I’m so sick of the nonsense this year.”
