THOMPSON – Todd Ceravolo knocked the king from his throne Thursday at Thompson International Speedway.
Ceravolo drove to victory in the 30-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series SK Modified feature, in the process snapping Ryan Preece’s four-race winning streak.
“I’m hoping there’s a bounty out on him because it takes a really good car to beat [Preece],” said Ceravolo, of Gales Ferry. “We had a good car tonight.”
Preece, of Berlin, was second and Woody Pitkat of Stafford third.
Preece went from fourth to the lead in less than two laps at the start of the race, but it was Ceravolo on his bumper following him as he overtook Kerry Malone for the lead.
On a lap five restart Ceravolo went by Preece, who also lost second place to Pitkat. Preece, who has nine victories at Thompson this year, got back by Pitkat for second on lap eight but never was able to challenge Ceravolo.
“We work really hard on this car week after week to get as good as we can to beat him,” Ceravolo said. “He’s definitely tough. It’s just satisfying to beat him.”
