Thompson Notes: Ryan Preece Runs Away With Another SK Modified Win

THOMPSON – It seems everybody these days has their own solution for improving the weekly racing card at Thompson International Speedway.

Thursday, in victory lane, Ryan Preece took on the role of amateur promoter after his second consecutive runaway victory in the 30-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series SK Modified division.

Todd Ceravolo of Gales Ferry was second and Ted Christopher of Plainville third.

It was the third consecutive win and eighth victory overall in 14 events this year at Thompson for Preece.

A week ago at Thompson Preece also left Ceravolo deep behind him in second place. After winning Thursday Preece offered an idea to spice things up.

“I wish Thompson would put up a bonus for a guy [who won] to start last [the next week] and come up through the field,” Preece said. “I think that would be pretty exciting for everybody.”

It’s hard to imagine anything slowing Preece Thursday. He went past Kerry Malone for the lead on lap nine and quickly checked out, winning by a straightaway.

“That car is just that good,” Preece said. “They really hit something last week. Todd is fast and so is Teddy. I want to race. It was all on who got out front.”

Tom O’Sullivan of Springfield, Mass. won the 25-lap Late Model feature. John Falconi of Oakham, Mass. was second and Damon Tinio of Mendon, Mass. third.

Jesse Gleason of Lisbon held off Scott Sundeen of Douglas, Mass. at the line to win the 20-lap Limited Sportsman feature. Steve Kenneway of Lowell, Mass. was third.

Cam McDermott of Scituate, R.I. won the 20-lap SK Light Modified feature. Troy Talman of Oxford, Mass. was second and Eric LeClair of Easthampton, Mass. third.

Danny Gamache Jr. of Woonsocket picked up his first career victory in the 20-lap Thompson Modified feature. Brian Tagg of Oxford, Mass. was second and John Lowinski-Loh Jr. of Milford, Mass was third.
