LOUDON, N.H. – New Hampshire Motor Speedway is a track where garnering positive results has become habit for Brett Moffitt.
Friday the Grimes, Ia. driver was at it again.
Moffitt won the pole in qualifying for Saturday’s K&N Pro Series East G-Oil 100 at New Hampshire, in the process setting a new track record.
Moffitt toured the 1.058-mile oval in 29.648 seconds (128.467 mph), breaking the record of 29.849 seconds set by Darrell Wallace Jr. last September.
Moffitt won the event last year. In six career starts at the track he has an average finish of seventh and he’s riding a streak of consecutive and top-fives in Loudon and three consecutive podium runs.
Moffitt’s Hattori Racing Enterprises teammate Sergio Pena was second fastest in qualifying at 29.700 seconds (128.242 mph).
Kyle Larson, making his first trip to Loudon, was third fastest (29.732 seconds, 128.104). Corey LaJoie will start fourth.
