Rain Brings Racing Card To A Halt Saturday At Waterford Speedbowl

WATERFORD – A light but steady rain brought an early end to the Thunder On The Sound racing card Saturday night at the Waterford Speedbowl.

Just after the start of the 150-lap Budwesier Modified Nationals SK Modified feature, rain started falling. The first five laps of the event had been run before a caution flew for a turn two crash by Shawn Monahan. While under caution rain started falling.

It was the second time during the evening that rain had brought a delay to the show. In addition to the SK Modified feature, the track also had to postpone its Late Model, Street Stock and Mini Stock events on the car.

The rescheduling meant changes down the line for much of the Saturday night cards the rest of the season.

The final 141 laps of the $5,000 to win SK Modified feature is now scheduled to be run on Sept. 15. The track will also run twin Late Model features on Sept. 15.

On Sept. 22 the track will run twin SK Modified features. On Sept. 29 twin Mini Stock and twin Street Stock features will be run.

Joe Perry was leading the SK Modified feature at the time rain brought the race to a halt with Ed Puleo running second and Tom Abele Jr. running third.
