Ryan Preece Grabs Whelen Modified Tour Pole At Thompson; Rob Fuller Gets Southern Pole

THOMPSON – The king of qualifying this year on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour was back at the front of the field once against Saturday at Thompson International Speedway.

Ryan Preece of Berlin was fastest in qualifying Saturday for Sunday’s Town Fair Tire 75 at Thompson International Speedway, part of the UNOH Showdown weekend at the track.

Preece toured the .625-mile oval at Thompson in 18.828 seconds (119.503 mph) for his fifth pole in Whelen Modified Tour events this year.

It marked the 11th career pole in the series for Preece and the fourth of his career at Thompson.

Justin Bonsignore of Holtsville, N.Y. will start second Sunday after putting up a qualifying lap of 18.834 seconds (119.465 mph). Bobby Santos III of Franklin, Mass. was third fastest in qualifying (18.891 seconds, 119.104 mph).

In NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour qualifying for Sunday’s GreenPointe Energy Southern 75 at Thompson, Rob Fuller of Boylston, Mass. took the pole with a lap of 18.947 seconds (118.752 mph).

Tim Brown of Cana, Va. was second fastest at 19.090 seconds (117.863 mph). Andy Seuss of Hampstead, N.H. was third fastest (19.112 seconds, 117.727 mph).
