Thompson Notes: Cam McDermott Clinches First SK Light Modified Championship

THOMPSON – Lucky No. 13 got the job done Saturday at Thompson International Speedway for Cam McDermott.

McDermott, of Scituate, R.I., drove to his 13th victory of the season in the 20-lap SK Light Modified feature Saturday at Thompson.

John Studley of Framingham, Mass. was second and Dylan Kopec of Palmer, Mass. third.

The victory clinched the division championship for McDermott in the first year the division has been run regularly at Thompson.

With one points race remaining, McDermott now has a 96 point lead over Troy Talman, who is second in the standings. The most a driver can pick up in one event is 50 points.

Chad Labastie of Uxbridge, Mass. won the 20-lap Thompson Modified feature. John Lowinski-Loh Jr. of Milford, Mass. was second and Jay Sundeen of Douglas, Mass. third.

Lowinski-Loh also clinched a championship. He ended the day with a 64 point advantage over Sundeen at the top of the standings.
