On Tap: Hitting The Road For A Weekend Brimming With Special Events

Where do you look to for something out of the norm this racing weekend when it comes to short tracks Connecticut?

Over three days each track in Connecticut will be offering something a little bit different than what the regular schedule usually includes, with Stafford Motor Speedway actually doing it twice.

Thursday

What: Northeast Mini Stock Tour

Where: Thompson International Speedway

Schedule: 30-lap SK Modified, 25-lap Late Model, 20-lap SK Light Modified, 20-lap Thompson Modified, 20-lap Limited Sportsman and 15-lap Mini Stock (3).

Info: The Mini Stock division takes center stage Thursday night at Thompson with the Northeast Mini Stock tour in town. The Mini Stock wills have three separate features for the night between the tracks own division the Mini Stock tour.

Friday

What: Coors Light SK Modified 100

Where: Stafford Motor Speedway

Schedule: 100-lap SK Modified, 30-lap Late Model, 20-lap SK Light Modified, 20-limited Late Model and 15-lap DARE Stock.

Info: The Coors Light SK Modified 100, rained out on June 8, is the showcase event of Friday night’s five-division Whelen All-American Series schedule at Stafford.

Saturday

What: Speedbowl.com 300 Night

Where: Waterford Speedbowl

Schedule: 100-lap SK Modified, 50-lap Late Model, 50-lap Street Stock, 50-lap Mini Stock, 25-lap SK Light Modified and 25-lap Legends.

Info: The Speedbowl’s annual mid-season extravaganza offering extra distance features in the four of the six features on the racing card.

Saturday

What: CarQuest Super Saturday

Where: Stafford Motor Speedway

Schedule: 50-lap ISMA SuperModified, 30-lap NEMA Midget, 25-lap Pro Four Modified and Champions for Charity kart race.

Info: After eight years as Extreme Tuesday, the special event at Stafford has been moved to a Saturday night. The second Champions for Charity kart race will feature 13 drivers in competition including Valenti Modified Racing Series champion Chris Pasteryak, NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour drivers Ryan Prece, Woody Pitkat, Todd Szegedy, Justin Bonsignore and Richie Pallai Jr. and legendary Modified driver Bob Potter.
