(Press Release from Riverhead Raceway)

In an all too familiar scenario in 2026, Riverhead Raceway management announced on Friday afternoon the cancellation of racing scheduled for Saturday night, a program featuring the Two for TK Twin 9 Figure Eight events and a School Bus Demolition Derby. Guided by local forecasts and weather apps that pointed to an 89% chance of severe storms that were projected to arrive between 3:00 PM and 10:00 PM Saturday, the call was made Friday to cancel.
“It just stinks for everyone” a frustrated GM John Ellwood commented after the track lost its fourth show over the first ten weeks of the season, “but we’ll keep grinding, all you can do”. The School Bus Demolition Derby washed out Saturday will be presented as part of the Ollie’s Bargain Basement I Love American Night Fireworks extravaganza Saturday August 8th. Ellwood in conjunction with Erin Larsen-Delaney will disclose in the days to come the new date for the Two for TK Twin 9 Figure Eight events run in memory of TK Tom Kraft.
