Thompson Notes: Emerson Cayer Scores Northeast Mini Stock Tour Win

THOMPSON – Emerson Cayer of Contoocook, N.H. passed Mark Panaroni on lap eight and led the rest of the way to win the 15-lap Northeast Mini Stock Tour feature.

Panaroni, of Ivoryton, held on for second. Scott Michalski of Killingly was third.

“The car was great,” Cayer said. “I’ve got to thank the crew. They did an awesome job. It was pretty good in practice, we made some changes and made it even better.”

Chris Williams and Roger Ducharme spun together in a battle for the lead on lap four, moving Eric Bourgeois to the lead and Panaroni to second.

Panaroni, the winner in the Northeast Mini Stock Tour’s visit last year at Thompson, went to the lead past Bourgeois on lap five with Cayer following him to second. Cayer sized up Panaroni for two laps before taking over the lead.

“We ran good in practice [with Panaroni],” Cayer said. “I was just a touch faster. I was hoping he didn’t make his car too much faster between practice and the feature.”
