Valenti Modified Racing Series Rolls Back To Monadnock Saturday With Logjam In The Standings

Jon McKennedy and Rowan Pennink have at least a few things in common as they head into Valenti Modified Racing Series action this weekend.

Both saw their opportunities to win in series action last Friday at Lee USA Speedway in Lee, N.H. go by the wayside thanks to overaggressive moves on the track late in the race.

And both will take the series points lead into this Saturday’s Firecracker 100 at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, N.H.

McKennedy, of Chelmsford, Mass. and Pennink, of Huntingdon, Pa. both have 204 points heading into the sixth event of the season Saturday at Monadnock.

McKennedy has two victories this season, winning in the season opener at the Waterford Speedbowl on April 1st and in the division’s first trip of the season to Monadnock on April 21.

Pennink won when the series went to Thompson International Speedway on May 20.

McKennedy and Pennink area also both regulars on the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour

The four Series winners this season occupy the top-four spots in the standings. Lou Mechalides, a winner at the division’s event at Seekonk (Mass.) Speedway on June 9, is in third place in the standings, 24 points behind the leaders.

Les Hinkley of Windsor Locks, the winner last Friday at Lee, is fourth in the standings, 32 points out of the top spot.
