Dirt Modifieds Coming To Stafford Motor Speedway Later This Month

Stafford Motor Speedway officials announced Friday that their special Aug. 26 racing card at the track will include the debut of Dirt Modifieds at the half-mile oval.

A 125-lap feature for the Pro All Stars Series North Super Late Model division will be the showcase event on Aug. 26 at the track, marking the Stafford Motor Speedway debut for the division.

Also scheduled on the card are the PASS Sportsman division (60-lap), PASS Modified division (40-lap) and New England Truck Series (30-lap).

The Dirt 602 Sportsman Modifieds are described in a release as “basically a full blown dirt modified with a 602 crate engine, the same engine that Stafford’s SK Light Modifieds use.”

They will compete on the asphalt at Stafford on dirt tires in a 40-lap feature.

“We got to talking, and since this is an open show, we were looking for another division to add to the program,” PASS President Tom Mayberry said in a release from Stafford. “The Dirt 602 Crate Sportsman teams are based in New York, so it’s not that far of a trip for the teams to make to Stafford, and we thought this would make an excellent addition to the divisions that we already have lined up. These cars are pretty cool to watch on dirt, but I’ve never seen them race on asphalt, so we’re all pretty excited to see what these cars can do at Stafford.”
