Dillon Moltz started the season at the Waterford Speedbowl thinking he would run part-time this year the track, sharing a ride with car owner Mark Cooper.
Part-time quickly turned into full-time, then a title chase and Saturday it meant a championship for the driver from Waterford.
Waterford Speedbowl officials announced early Saturday afternoon that they were calling of tonight’s NASCAR Whelen All-American Series racing card at the track.
It means one more event for the Late Model division at Waterford, and what is now an insurmountable points lead for Moltz. He will go into next weekend’s Finale weekend at Waterford with an 81 point lead over second place Rich Staskowski. The most points a driver can earn in an event is 55..
Ken Cassidy Jr. has also clinched the Mini Stock division title at the track.
Championships in the SK Modified, Street Stock and SK Light Modified divisions are up for grabs going into the Finale Weekend.
