The Honey Badger is in the house.

The arrival to the new RaceDayCT.com digs also rings in the addition of something new to the site.

We thought about waiting until the start of the 2013 season to start this new award, but decided we could close out the season locally with its introduction.

Welcome to the Honey Badger of the Week.

Thanks to Randall and his glorious YouTube classic, we all know this, “Honey Badger don’t care.”

According to Randall: “The honey badger has been referred to by the Guinness Book of World Records as the most fearless animal in all of the animal kingdom.”

So we know: “Honey Badger don’t care, it just takes what he wants. He has no regard for any other animal whatsoever.”

And therein lies the gist of the Honey Badger of the Week Award. It might be a good thing, might be a bad thing, we don’t really know.

The award winner will stand as someone each week who best exemplifies the attributes of the Honey Badger.

And the inaugural Honey Badger Award goes to Woody Pitkat of Stafford for his efforts Sunday at Stafford Motor Speedway.

It was the good, the bad and the ugly kind of day for Pitkat, all perfect Honey Badger qualities.

Woody Pitkat

Pitkat clinched his second Late Model championship at Stafford Sunday, but got wrecked by rival Adam Gray on the first lap of the feature. After getting wreck, Pitkat summarily came back around and wrecked Gray.

After the race Pitkat said of Gray: “The meatball from two weeks ago just turned into a full sized grinder this week.”

And in the Whelen Modified Tour CarQuest Fall Final 150, it was Pitkat taking what he wanted despite many saying he didn’t belong.

When Pitkat was tabbed to replace Jon McKennedy in the Hill Enterprises Whelen Modified Tour ride a few weeks ago, some around the series question the decision to replace McKennedy with Pitkat. He shut up the critics on Sunday by putting on a show at Stafford in dominating the event. Unfortunately a power steering issue late allowed Bobby Santos III to pass Pitkat with a handful of laps left.

And as Randall says: “The Honey Badger is really pretty badass. It has no regard for any other animal whatsoever.”
