Summers, of Vernon, drove away from Lou Cicconi Jr. over the closing laps to win the 50-lap International SuperModified Association feature Sunday at Thompson.

“This was huge for me,” Summers said. “Ed Shea, Vic Miller, Chris Perley, they just give me such a good car. To have an opportunity to drive a car that good in today’s race, it’s a dream come true. I always wanted one of these Thompson plaques so this is special for me.”

Cicconi, of Aston, Pa, was second and Jon McKennedy of Chelmsford, Mass. third.

Summers passed Cicconi for the lead on lap 35.

“I congratulate Rob,” Cicconi said. “He’s been struggling all year and he really drove his rear-end off here passing me and stuff.”

Randy Cabral of Plymouth, Mass. won the 25-lap Northeastern Midget Association feature. Russ Stoehr of Bridgewater, Mass. was second and Jeff Horn of Ashland, Mass. third.

Larry Gelinas of Buxton, Me. won the 30-lap Super Late Model feature. Norm Wrenn of Nashua, N.H. was second and Jim Banfield of Glastonbury third.
