Waterford Speedbowl Readies To End The Season In A Smashing Way With The Great Pumpkin 178

Who didn’t smash a pumpkin or two as a kid?

Saturday at the Waterford Speedbowl racing and pumpkin smashing collide in a whole new way.

The Waterford Speedbowl will close out its 2012 season Saturday with the running of the Great Pumpkin 178, which is the conclusion of their Finale Weekend Sunday card, which was rained out on Oct. 7.

Four features collide Saturday with a pumpkin smashing that will send someone off to Las Vegas or Miami.

Saturday’s event will see 50 laps features for the Whelen All-American Series SK Modifieds, the Late Model and the Street Stock division. The Mini Stock division, which was already in the midst of the final weekend feature when rain began falling on Oct. 7, will run the final 28 laps of their feature.

Practice begins at 1 p.m. with features scheduled to start at 3 p.m.

At the conclusion of features the Speedbowl teams up with Jammin’ 107.7 for the Great Pumpkin Drop.

A massive pumpkin filled with 107 ping pong balls will be dropped from more than 100 feet at the track. The person whose numbered ping pong ball lands closest to the bulls-eye will win a trip for two to either Las Vegas or Miami. According to the Jammin 107.7 website, to win a ball, “Listen each Weekday at 7:00, 9:00, 2:00, and 5:00 for the signal to call and instantly win your ball!”
