Pitkat, of Stafford, has been entered into Saturday’s 75-lap feature for the Valenti Modified Racing Series in a Gunsmoke Stables Racing ride.

Pitkat is also scheduled to run in Sunday’s NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour season finale in the Hill Enterprises ride and in the Jimmy Paige owned SK Modified he runs regularly at Thompson.

It will be cool. Obviously it will be like running Nationwide on Saturday and [Sprint] Cup on Sunday kind of, because it’s a full blown Modified. It’s kind of cool to have the extra seat time.

Pitkat said he was surprised when Gunsmoke Stables Racing team owner Steve Greer gave him the call about running the Modified Racing Series event.

“I know Steve kind of wanted to get a [Valenti Modified Racing Series] car,” Pitkat said. “He was telling me when I ran the [SK Modified] for him at [the Waterford Speedbowl on Sept. 15] but I didn’t think he was going to do it that quick. But he ended up getting a car and we got some help from [Chris] Kopec on the setup so I’m pretty excited. I think it’s going to be a good deal.”

Pitkat had pondered the thought of running a Late Model this weekend at Thompson for his Billy Snow, who fields his Late Model team at Stafford Motor Speedway, be he decided against it.

“The [Hill Enterprises Modified Tour car] is kind of my first priority this weekend,” Pitkat said. “That could be about landing bigger things for me next year so I want to focus on that.”

Pitkat will be making his third start this year for Hill Enterprises in Whelen Modified Tour action. He was running in the top-five most of the event on Sept. 22 at New Hampshire Motor Speedway before he was caught up in a multi-car wreck in the closing laps. He led 128 of 150 laps at the CarQuest Fall Final 150 at Stafford Motor Speedway on Sept. 29 before losing the lead to Bobby Santos III with just over six laps left. He ended up second.
