Burt Myers Rolls In Whelen Southern Modified Tour Action At Southern National Motosports Park

It had been five years between visits to the Southern National Motorsports Park for the NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour, but little changed during that time when it came to the visions in victory lane.

The last time the series was at Southern National in Kenly, N.C. in 2008 it was Burt Myers celebrating victory.

Myers returned to that sport Saturday. The Walnut Cove, N.C. driver won the KOMA Unwind Relaxation Drink 150 at Southern National Motorsports Park.

It completed a season sweep of the first two Southern Modified Tour events of the season for the Myers family. Burt’s brother Jason won the season opening event last week at Caraway Speedway
At Southern National, Myers started third and went to the lead past Ryan Preece of Berlin on lap 81 and never trailed again.

It was the ninth career Southern Modified Tour victory of Myers, the 2010 series champion.

Preece, who won his first Whelen Southern Modified Tour pole and led the first 80 laps, was second. Tim Brown of Rural Hall, N.C. was third.

Ted Christopher of Plainville was sixth and Woody Pitkat of Stafford 10th.
