Heating Up: Icebreaker Ready To Roll At Thompson International Speedway

THOMPSON – Icebreaker? Icemaker? Well, kind of hard to tell in the early moments of day one of Icebreaker weekend at Thompson International Speedway.

With temperatures in the 30’s on Saturday morning in Thompson, it seems Old Man Winter doesn’t want to give up just yet, though the forecast calls for clearing skies and temperatures possibly jumping to near 60 later today.

No matter chilly or warm, the action will be heated all day on the .625-mile oval at Thompson.

Icebreaker Saturday features qualifying for all divisions on track this weekend and two features.

That qualifying lineup includes time trials for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, which kicks off its season Sunday with the Icebreaker 150.

Practice begins at 10 a.m. at Thompson and grandstands open at11 a.m.. Qualifying events begin at 3 p.m. After qualifying there will be two features, a 20-lap Limited Sportsman feature and 15-lap Mini Stock feature. Both events are “Best of the Rest” races, featuring drivers who raced at Thompson in 2012 but did not finish in the top ten in points.
