Icebreaker Sunday On Tap At Thompson Speedway

THOMPSON – It’s been a couple months since the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour was showcased as part of the UNOH Battle at the Beach at Daytona International Speedway in early February.

Everybody remembers the Outback “No Rules, Just Right” series of short track events at Daytona right.

Now it’s time to go back to races actually policed by officials. The Whelen Modified Tour kicks off the 2013 Sunday at Thompson International Speedway with the running of the Icebreaker 150.

Seven-time series champion Mike Stefanik takes the field to green for today’s event.

In addition to the Modified Tour opener, Thompson also hosts the season opener for Granite State Pro Stock series today. The division, making its Thompson debut, will run a 50-lap feature.

The NASCAR Whelen All-American Series SK Modified division will run a 33-lap feature. The race was originally scheduled to be a 30-lap feature but was extended in memory of Jimmy Smith, a driver in the division who passed away Saturday after he ran a heat race at the track.

Also on tap today is a 25-lap feature for the Late Model division, a 20-lap SK Light Modified feature, a 20-lap Limited Sportsman feature and a 15-lap Mini Stock feature.
