Each week during the 2013 racing season the New England Racing Fuel RaceDayCT Performer of the Week will be chosen from among drivers competing in events in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series weekly division competitors at Stafford Motor Speedway, Thompson International Speedway and the Waterford Speedbowl.
Each week’s winner will receive a $20 certificate for race fuel from New England Racing Fuel. Drivers must have a Sunoco Race Fuel decal on their car to be eligible for the weekly award.
The first New England Racing Fuel RaceDayCT Performer of the Week Award goes to Waterford Speedbowl Street Stock divison driver Josh Galvin of Franklin.
After blowing a motor during the April 20 event at the Waterford Speedbowl, Galvin returned to competition at Waterford on Saturday and was part of the most dramatic finish of the evening.
In a last lap battle Saturday, Galvin edged second place finisher Joe Arena and third place Chris Meyer in a three-wide fight to the checkered flag.
