Broken Record: Injured Keith Rocco Rolls To SK Modified Victory At Waterford Speedbowl

A week ago Keith Rocco suffered a broken left wrist during an SK Modified heat race at the Waterford Speedbowl.

Saturday night the casted racer from Wallingford was back to victory lane.

Rocco drove to victory in the 35-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series SK Modified feature Saturday at the Waterford Speedbowl.

It was the third victory in five SK Modified division events at Waterford this year for Rocco. Craig Lutz of Miller Place, N.Y. was second and Todd Ceravolo of Gales Ferry third.

Rocco took the lead on lap 12 from Jeffrey Gallup. On lap 23 a wreck collected more than half the field in turn one. After the race went back to green, Rocco had to hold off the charges of Lutz over the final five laps.

In the special 50-lap event for the Street Stock division it was Chris Meyer of North Franklin holding off Corey Hutchings of Salem at the line. Ryan Waterman of Danielson was third.

Garrett Denton of Hope Valley, R.I. kept up his torrid pace in the 25-lap Mini Stock feature with his third victory in five races this season. Denton’s other two finishes this year are two second place runs. Wayne Burroughs Jr. of Oakdale was second and second Ray Christian III of Groton third.

Cam McDermott of Scituate, R.I. won the 25-lap SK Light Modified feature. Randy Churchill Jr. of Oakdale was second and Glenn Griswold of Vernon third.

Dylan Izzo of Westport won the 20-lap Legends feature.
