On Tap: The Weekend Is Here And That Means Fridays Are Now For Racing

Cross off any ideas of the bowling alley or movie theaters for Friday nights for the foreseeable future.

Pencil in Friday night racing for the next five months or so.

Stafford Motor Speedway kicks off their Friday night weekly racing schedule this week with their first BFF Night at the track.

Bring a friend to open their eyes to the action at the half-mile oval this week and Stafford will let them in for free. Stafford will offer a free general admission ticket with each one purchased.

The racing weekend continues Saturday at the Waterford Speedbowl where the shoreline oval readies for the sixth Whelen All-American Series event of the season.

Schedule: 40-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series SK Modified, 35-lap Late Model, 20-lap SK Light Modified, 20-lap Limited Late Model 6:15 p.m.
Tickets: Adults $17.50, $20; Youth (6-14) $5, children 5 and under free.
More: The opening night of weekly Friday night racing at Stafford Motor Speedway for the 2013 season. … Stafford host its first BFF Friday. Purchase one general admission ticket ($17.50) and get a second ticket free. Also, May is Youth Organization Month at Stafford. All children 6-14 wearing a youth organization team shirt or uniform will be admitted free to the general admission grandstands when accompanied by an adult. … Opening Friday marks Xtra Mart Xtra D night for the Late Model division which will run a 35-lap feature, five laps longer than usual.

Schedule: 35-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series SK Modified, 30-lap Late Model, 25-lap Street Stock, 25-lap Mini Stock and 25-lap SK Light Modified. Grandstands open: 3 p.m.; Qualifying: 5:30 p.m.; Features: 7 p.m.
Tickets: Adults $17; Youth (6-14) $6, children 5 and under free.
More:The sixth event of the season at the shoreline oval is on tap. Saturday’s event could likely result in a big shakeup for the SK Modified division. Ted Christopher, running second to Keith Rocco by 17 points in the standings, will likely miss Saturday’s event at Waterford. In addition to running full-time in the SK Modified divisions at Waterford, Stafford and Thompson International Speedway, Christopher also competes on the Whelen Modified Tour. The Modified Tour is in action Saturday at Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, N.H. Rocco has won three of five SK Modified events at Waterford this season. … Garrett Denton goes looking for his fourth victory of the season in the Mini Stock division. Denton has two second place finishes to go with this three victories.
