Ted Christopher Won’t Let Injury Slow Weekend Racing Schedule; Won’t Race Weekly At Thompson Speedway

Double duty Friday evening at Stafford Motor Speedway won’t be a worry Ted Christopher.

Never has been in the past, and despite recovering from a right hand/wrist injury, it won’t this week.

Christopher is scheduled to compete in both the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour TSI Harley-Davidson 125 and the track’s regular weekly 40-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series SK Modified feature Friday at Stafford Motor Speedway.

For the time being, the Plainville driver will be wearing a special brace to protect torn ligaments he suffered in an SK Modified division crash Saturday at the Waterford Speedbowl.

Christopher is running full-time on the Whelen Modified Tour, along with full-time in the SK Modified divisions at Stafford and Waterford in 2013.

He said he will not run regularly this year in the SK Modified division at Thompson Speedway. Christopher had competed in the opening SK Modified event of the year at Thompson on April 14 and had planned to compete in Sunday’s 30-lap SK Modified event at Thompson before rain cancelled the show. Thompson opens their weekly Thursday racing schedule on May 30.

Christopher said a lack of available crew members on Thursday’s and keeping up with work schedule at his own business means having to keep Thompson off the schedule this year.

“Thursday’s is just tough for everything.” Christopher said.
