Valenti Modified Racing Series Falls Victim To Rain At Thompson Speedway

THOMPSON – The rain won Sunday at Thompson International Speedway.

A light rain that began mid-afternoon showed no signs of subsiding and Thompson International Speedway officials, along with officials from the Valenti Modified Racing Series, made the decision to call off the event at about 4:45 p.m. Sunday.

Thompson Speedway officials said a makeup date for Sunday’s 75-lap Valenti Modified Racing Series may be announced at a later date.

The Valenti Modified Racing Series is scheduled to compete again at the track this season on July 25 and Oct. 19. Valenti Modified Racing Series race director Scott Tapley said series officials will work with track officials to find a possible makeup date for Sunday’s race.

Just after Max Zachem took the checkered flag to win the first of three scheduled Valenti Modified Racing Series qualifying events the rain started falling at the track.

Thompson Speedway returns to action on Thursday May 30 with their opening  weekly racing show of the 2013 season.
