Champions For Charities Event Coming Up Next Week At Stafford Motor Speedway

With just about a week left before the green flag flies at Stafford Motor Speedway for the track’s annual Champions for Charities event, Limited Late Model division driver David Arute is leading the way in fund raising efforts by the 13 drivers involved in the race.

Arute, a former Senior Outlaw karting champion at Stafford, has thus far raised $7,028 for Pancreatic Cancer Research.

The 15-lap Champions for Charities event on June 28 at Stafford will pit the 13 drivers in the field in a race on the Stafford Mini-Mile using Senior Outlaw karts which are usually run as part of the Monday karting events at Stafford.

Each driver in the Champions for Charities event is paired with a charity of their choice. The driver who raises the most money will earn the pole position for the 15-lap feature event and the remainder of the starting grid will be determined by their dollar amounts raised for charity.

Ron Silk, the 2011 Whelen Modified Tour champion, is currently second in the fund raising at $5750. Silk is raising funds for the Alzheimer’s Associaton.

Those looking to donate to any drivers involved in the event can do so through the Champions for Charities page at the Stafford Motor Speedway website.
