Jeff Rocco And Tom Abele Jr. Missing From Waterford Speedbowl SK Modified Lineup Saturday

WATERFORD – After each were involved with wrecks during the SK Modified feature on May 18 at the Waterford Speedbowl division regular Tom Abele Jr. said he wouldn’t be returning to track and fellow division regular Jeff Rocco said his team would likely be leaving too.

Both returned to the track for division’s next event last Saturday, but then both followed through with their stated intentions this week at the Waterford Speedbowl.

Neither Abele, of Norwich, or Rocco, of Wallingford, were in the pits with their cars Saturday.

Rocco returned to the track last week and won the night’s 35-lap SK Modified feature, his second career win in the division. Abele returned last week and was involved in a lap one wreck.

After winning last week Rocco the intentions of his team, owned my Mark and Mike Pane, was still to stop running regularly at the track. Rocco said after the event the team may show up later this year for bigger events, but that the was going to try to run more Valenti Modified Racing Series events. Saturday Rocco was at Seekonk (Mass.) Speedway for the Valenti Modified Racing Series event there.

Abele ran in the 30-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series SK Modified feature Thursday at Thompson International Speedway. He was in the grandstands as a spectator at Waterford Saturday.
