NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour Mr. Rooter 161 On Deck At The Waterford Speedbowl

Last year it proved to be the feel-good event of the season on the Whelen Modified Tour schedule.

In 2012 the Whelen Modified Tour returned to the Waterford Speedbowl for the first time since 2006 and reappeared to play to a packed house.

Saturday the division returns once again to the Speedbowl, where reigning series champion Doug Coby looks to defend his victory in last year’s Mr. Rooter 161 at Waterford.

In last year’s event Coby had to fend off the charges of Ryan Preece in the late stages to win the event. This week its Preece who proves the hottest driver going into Waterford.

The 22-year old from Berlin is coming off a victory in last Friday’s TSI Harley-Davidson 125 at Stafford Motor Speedway. Preece, who leads the standings, goes into Waterford riding a streak of nine consecutive top-10 finishes dating back to the 2012 season.

Qualifying for the Mr. Rooter 161 is scheduled for 5 p.m. Saturday with an expected feature green flag around 9 p.m.
