Thirty Two Signs Honey Badger Of The Week Award: Joey Ferrigno

Thanks to Randall and his glorious YouTube classic, we all know this, “Honey Badger don’t care.”

We know from Randall that: “Honey Badger don’t care, it just takes what he wants. He has no regard for any other animal whatsoever.”

And Stafford Motor Speedway SK Light Modified driver Joey Ferrigno wasn’t letting anybody get between himself and victory lane last Friday on the half-mile oval.

Troy Talman tried and it didn’t work. Ferrigno went from third to first on the green flag of the 20-lap feature. When Talman passed him for the lead on lap 14, Ferrigno fought back.

“Watch it dig, look at that digging,” Randall says of the Honey Badger, and digging was something Ferrigno kept on doing all night.

Ferrigno, of East Hartford, got the lead back on lap 17 only to lose it to Talman once again on lap 18.

And Ferrigno kept sticking his nose back in the hive.

“The Honey Badger doesn’t care, it’s getting stung like a thousand times,” Randall says. “… It’s hungry. It doesn’t care about being stung by bees. Nothing can stop the Honey Badger when it’s hungry.”

Then the caution flew on lap 19 to set up a decisive green-white-checkered restart.

According to Randall: “The Honey Badger has been referred to by the Guinness Book of World Records as the most fearless animal in all of the animal kingdom,” and Ferrigno showed that, grabbing the lead on the initial restart, losing it once again at the white flag before ripping it back on the final lap.

“The Honey Badger is just crazy,” Randall says and Ferrigno showed that Friday. And word is the jockeying for position and dramatics in the postrace celebration afterwards were as epic as on the track.
