Todd Szegedy Tops Speed Charts In NASCAR Modified Tour Mr. Rooter 161 Practice At Waterford

WATERFORD – Just about a decade ago it was Todd Szegedy celebrating a NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour victory at the Waterford Speedbowl.

Szegedy, of Ridgefield, won the 2004 Whelen Modified Tour at Waterford.

Saturday afternoon Szegedy looked prepared to grab another big trophy at the shoreline oval.

Szegedy led the way in practice in preparation for tonight’s Whelen Modified Tour Mr. Rooter 161 at the Waterford Speedbowl.

Szegedy toured the .375-mile bullring with a fast lap of 14.022 (96.126 mph).

Bobby Santos III of Frankin, Mass. was second fastest at 14.063 seconds (95.997 mph). Justin Bonsigore of Holtsville, N.Y. was third at 14.067 seconds (95.969 mph).

Ron Silk of Norwalk was fourth fastest and Bryon Chew of Mattituck, N.Y. fifth fastest.

The defending event champion and reigning Whelen Modified Tour champion Doug Coby of Milford was sixth fastest.
