WATERFORD – Tyler Chadwick held off the late race charges of Todd Ceravolo to win the 35-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series SK Modified feature Saturday at the Waterford Speedbowl.
It was the second victory of the season for Chadwick, of Ledyard.
Ceravolo, of Gales Ferry, was second and Nichole Morgillo third.
Ceravolo beat Chadwick on two successive restarts with six laps remaining, but both restarts were called back because of wrecks behind the leaders.
“I just wanted it over,” Chadwick said.
It was third consecutive second place for Ceravolo
“The fourth [place] car thinks it’s going to pass the second place car on the restarts and that jacks everything up and wrecks a lot of racecars,” Ceravolo said of the wreck-marred event. “I finished second again, I just can’t thank the crew enough.”
Chadwick took the lead from Morgillo with 20 laps left.
“I know we have a really fast car and all the guys want to see this car up front and they work really hard on it,” Morgillo said. “This season has been rough here, not just me but for all the drivers out here. It’s getting crazy.”
