Little Guys Go Looking For The Big Bucks Friday At Special Waterford Speedbowl Event

A host of familiar names and faces will be chasing some unusually high purses Friday at the Waterford Speedbowl.

With the track dark for its usual Saturday night racing, the Speedbowl will host the Little Guys 200 presented by Belltown Tire and Auto Center on Friday.

The event will host open class 50-lap Street Stock and Mini Stock features, each with $1,000 to win purses.

Ken Cassidy Jr., the track’s all-time winningest Mini Stock driver, said he’s going to need to stock up on “cheater parts” this week to be competitive at the show.

“I don’t have any cheater parts.” Cassidy said. “That’s the thing that sucks.”

Corey Hutchings had a sly grin when he joked about bringing a car for the Street Stock event that won’t be the same one that fans see him with at the track on regular Saturday nights.

“It will be a 36, but it’s not that 36,” Hutchings said. “We have something better at the house.”

In addition to the Street Stock and Mini Stock features, the night’s racing card will also feature 50-lap Legend and X-Car features.

Qualifying begins at 6 p.m. Friday and features at 7 p.m.
