Redemption: Ken Cassidy Jr. Scores Mini Stock Win At Waterford Speedbowl

WATERFORD – On June 29, Ken Cassidy Jr. saw his hopes of winning the Mini Stock feature at the Waterford Speedbowl spin out of his hands after contact from Ray Christian III sent him to the grass as the white flag flew at the shoreline oval.

Saturday Cassidy got his redemption.

In a near carbon copy repeat, Cassidy and Christian were side-by-side once again battling for victory at the Speedbowl Saturday. This time there was no contact, as Cassidy got by Christian for the lead with 11 laps remaining to win the 50-lap Mini Stock feature on Overdrive Radio 300 night at Waterford.

“I just love the fifty lappers,” Cassidy said. “My guys work so hard during the week, that’s what gets us to victory lane.”

At times during the event Cassidy, Christian and Bill Leonard ran three-wide for the lead in the event. After clearing Leonard, Cassidy and Christian were left settle differences.

“I was thinking the same thing was going to happen,” Cassidy said. “It was getting dicey there. I said ‘Not again.’ But Raymond ran me clean.”

Said Christian: “The car was really fast on the short run but as the race went on I just got tighter and tighter.”
