Valenti Modified Racing Series Called Off For Thursday At Thompson International Speedway

With a forecast calling for possible showers in the afternoon and evening, Thompson International Speedway officials made the decision to call off their Thursday racing card this morning.

The Valenti Modified Racing Series was scheduled to compete in a 75-lap feature Thursday at Thompson.

No makeup date was immediately announced, though a message on the Thompson Speedway Facebook page said a makeup date would soon be announced.

The Valenti Modified Racing Series began the season with three events scheduled for 2013 at Thompson. The division had a May 19 event rained out and cancelled. The division is also scheduled to be part of the World Series of Speedway Racing card on Oct. 19.

It’s unclear what the options are for a possible makeup as part of the already existing Thompson schedule.

Barring adding a date to the Thompson schedule, which seems unlikely, there are four possible Thursday nights remaining when the Valenti Modified Racing Series could be run at the track, and that would have to be in conjunction with already scheduled weekend events each week during the month of August for the Valenti Modified Racing Series.

Aug. 15 would most likely be off the table with the Whelen Modified Tour at Thompson. That leaves Aug. 1, Aug. 8, Aug. 22 and Aug. 29. The Valenti Modified Racing Series is at Beech Ridge Motor Speedway in Scarborough, Me. on Aug. 3, the Waterford Speedbowl on Aug. 10, Monadnock Speedway in Winchester, N.H. on Aug. 24 and Stafford Motor Speedway on Aug. 30.
