Waterford Notes: Keith Rocco Takes Late Model Win; Corey Hutchings Tops Street Stock Field

WATERFORD – Keith Rocco drove away from Dillon Moltz over two late restarts and won the 50-lap Late Model feature Saturday at the Waterford Speedbowl.

It was the fifth Late Model victory of the season at Waterford for Rocco, of Wallingford.

Moltz, of Waterford, was second and Bruce Thomas Jr. of Groton third.

“We ran side-by-side together and it’s a long race,” Rocco said of battles with Moltz for the lead throughout the event. “When you’ve got a long race like that you have time to have battles like that and you don’t have to be so aggressive. It was real fun and it shows me and Moltz can side-by-side and not even touch each other. It’s fun to race with him like that.”

In a caution-marred event, Corey Hutchings of Salem held off Josh Galvin of Franklin to win the 50-lap Street Stock feature at Overdrive Radio 300 night Saturday at the Waterford Speedbowl.

It was the fourth victory in 12 Street Stock events at Waterford this year for Hutchings.

“I thought it was never going to end,” Hutchings said. “It was so damn hot in the car. But this thing was on rails tonight. It was perfect.”

Brandon Plemons of Uncasville was third.
