Bobby Santos III Wins Whelen Modified Tour Bud 150 Pole At Thompson Speedway

THOMPSON – Practice proved perfection for Bobby Santos III in NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour qualifying Thursday at Thompson International Speedway.

The Franklin, Mass. driver set fast time in qualifying for tonight’s Whelen Modified Tour Bud 150 at Thompson.

After setting the fast time in practice, Santos toured the .625-mile oval in 18.775 seconds in qualifying (119.840 mph).

It was the 12th career series pole for Santos and his fourth at Thompson. It marked the fourth pole in seven events for Santos this season on the Modified Tour.

Series points leader Ryan Preece of Berlin was second fastest in qualifying at 18.826 seconds (119.516 mph).

Rookie John Beatty Jr. of Merrick, N.Y. was the surprise in qualifying, setting the third fastest time at 18.869 seconds (119.243 mph).
