In the end though there was no error whatsoever.

Perfection reigned for Bourgeois, of East Haddam, as he raced to victory in the 15-lap Mini Stock feature Thursday at Thompson, in the process clinching the division championship.

Dave Trudeau of Mansfield was second and Chad Baxter of Pascoag, R.I. third. Baxter came into the event six points behind Bourgeois in the standings.

“It’s been a long year,” Bourgeois said. “I was not feeling too good before this race knowing it was only six points. I have to thank my competitors, everybody that was all around us.”

It was the second victory of the season for Bourgeois, who also won a Mini Stock division title at Thompson in 2004.

“[Car owner Bruce Stevens] said he was retiring,” Bourgeois said. “I don’t think he’s retiring now. I think we’ll be back next year.”
