The Wallingford driver said Friday that he and his Mark Pane owned team will focus on running the final eight events of the season on the Valenti Modified Racing Series schedule.

Rocco had been running full-time in the SK Modified division at the Waterford Speedbowl until recently.

Rocco said the team will enter next Saturday’s Valenti Modified Racing Series event at Waterford and then run every event remaining going forward.

“More or less, the guys you’re racing with, they’re so much more talented and it’s more fun to race when you know you can race side-by-side with someone and you don’t have to worry about getting door-slammed or wrecked,” Rocco said.

Rocco, who had two wins in about a season and a half of full-time racing at Waterford, said the hope is to prepare for a full-time run at the Valenti Modified Racing Series in 2014.

“My car owner Mark Pane has talked about it,” Rocco said. “Ideally that’s what we’d like to do. It’s definitely an option we’re looking at right now.”
