Competition isn’t a word being thrown about these days though when it comes to the championship chase in the division.

Running away with a title is more like it.

Rocco, of Wallingford, won for the seventh time in 15 events this year in Saturday’s 50-lap extended distance event for the division.

With six events remaining this season, Rocco is now 90 points ahead of his closest pursuer in the standings, Jason Palmer, of Berlin.

David Farrington Jr. of Jay, Me. was second Saturday and Bruce Thomas Jr. of Groton third.

On Aug. 17 Tyler Chadwick lost by inches in a photo finish with Rocco in the SK Modified feature at the Waterford.

Saturday Chadwick turned the result around.

Chadwick, of Ledyard, won the 35-lap NASCAR Whelen All-American Series SK Modified feature.

It was the fourth victory of the season for Chadwick, the 2012 division champion who is a distant third to Rocco in the point standings this season.

Rocco was second and Todd Ceravolo of Gales Ferry third.

Chris Meyer of North Franklin won the 25-lap Street Stock feature. Al Stone III of Durham was second and Norm Root Jr. of Old Saybrook third.

Garrett Denton of Hope Valley, R.I. won the 25-lap Street Stock feature. Ken Cassidy Jr. of Lisbon was second and Ray Christian of Groton third.

Giovanni Giarratana of Newington won the 20-lap Legends feature.
