Kyle Ebersole Tops Whelen Southern Modified Tour Field At Langley Speedway

Kyle Ebersole used a late rally to captures his first career NASCAR Whelen Southern Modified Tour victory Saturday in the Newport News Shipbuilding/Bayport Credit Union 150 at Langley Speedway.

Ebersole, of Hummelstown, Pa., took the lead from Tim Brown on lap 137 and held off George Brunnhoelzl III over the closing laps.

Brunnhoelzl, of West Babylon, N.Y. was second and Brown, of Rural Hall, N.C., third.

“It feels awesome,” Ebersole said in a release from NASCAR. “Last year was the first year on the tour and I got a lot of good experience. I’ve been faster all year and I’m really happy we could seal the deal in one of these things before the end of the year.”

It was the 19th career series start for Ebersole.

Andy Seuess of Hamptstead, N.H. set a track record in winning the pole in qualifying. Renee Dupuis of Glastonbury, who qualified fifth, was 16th.
