Valenti Modified Racing Series Rained Out For Third Consecutive Week At Thompson

What is it that’s said about the third time? A charm? Not so much in this instance?

The Fast TrackFor the third consecutive week the Valenti Modified Racing Series has been forced to postpone an event at Thompson International Speedway.

Racing at Thompson, including tonight’s 75-lap feature for the Valenti Modified Racing Series, has been called off due to a forecast calling for storms for much of the day and through this evening.

There was no makeup date for the event immediately announced Thursday morning.

The Valenti Modified Series event was originally scheduled to run the event on July 25. It was postponed by rain that day and then again on Aug. 1.

It marks the fourth time this year weather has effected the Valenti Modified Racing Series at Thompson. The division was scheduled to run a feature at the track on May 19, but that was cancelled because of rain. The division is also scheduled to run its season ending event at Thompson on Oct. 19 as part of the track’s World Series of Speedway Racing weekend.

As of now, Thompson has four events left on its schedule for this season. The NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour is part of their Thursday racing card on Aug. 15 with the running of the Bud 150. The track then has two more regular Thursday weekly shows scheduled for Aug. 22 and Aug. 29. After that it’s the final event of the season, the World Series weekend, Oct. 18-20.

The Valenti Modified Racing Series is back in action Saturday as part of the Wings and Wheels Show at the Waterford Speedbowl.
