Bobby Santos III Fastest In Whelen Modified Tour Practice At New Hampshire Motor Speedway

LOUDON, N.H. – With four victories over the last two seasons between events at Stafford Motor Speedway and Thompson International Speedway, it’s clear the Tinio Motorsports Whelen Modified Tour team has found the fast way around the two legendary Connecticut short tracks.

Now the Mendon, Mass. based team is finding the fast way around the Granite State’s biggest track.

Bobby Santos III was on top of the speed chart’s for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour’s only practice Friday in preparation for Saturday’s F.W. Webb 100 at the 1.058-mile oval.

Santos, of Franklin, Mass., had a fast lap of 29.175 seconds (130.550 mph) Friday.

Reigning series champion Doug Coby of Milford was second fastest at 29.284 seconds (130.064 mph). Coby, a winner in Whelen Modified Tour competition in July at NHMS, is looking for his third consecutive series victory at the track.

Todd Szegedy of Ridgefield was third fastest in practice at 29.290 seconds (130.038 mph). Ted Christopher and Donny Lia rounded out the remainder of the top five during the practice session.

Series points leader Ryan Preece was 14th fastest during the session.

Qualifying for the F.W. Webb 100 is scheduled for 5 p.m. today. The race is set to take the green on Saturday at 12:15 p.m.
