New England Racing Fuel RaceDayCT Performer Of The Week Award: Dan Avery

Each week during the 2013 racing season the New England Racing Fuel RaceDayCT Performer of the Week will be chosen from among drivers competing in events in the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series weekly division competitors at Stafford Motor Speedway, Thompson International Speedway and the Waterford Speedbowl.

Each week’s winner will receive a $20 certificate for race fuel from New England Racing Fuel. Drivers must have a Sunoco Race Fuel decal on their car to be eligible for the weekly award.

It was a streak for the ages that week after week this season at Stafford Motor Speedway Dan Avery looked ready to snap.

On May 21, 1982 Avery had celebrated victory behind the wheel of an SK Modified at Stafford Motor Speedway.

Thirty one years later Avery returned to victory lane Friday at Stafford Motor Speedway. The 58-year old Avery held off 18-year old Joey Cipriano to get his first victory at the track since 1982.

For his efforts, Avery is the recipient of this week’s New England Racing Fuel RaceDayCT Performer of the Week Award.
