The management overseeing short track oval events at Thompson Speedway in 2014 will remain consistent.
Thompson Speedway general manager Josh Vanada squelched some hot rumors Wednesday when he confirmed that racing director Jeff Zuidema will return to the track in the same capacity in 2014.
There had been rumors floating that Zuidema was looking at possibly leaving the facility.
“I’m ecstatic that Jeff is coming back,” Vanada said. “He brings a great relationship with the competitors and I think he’s very fair. We looking forward to having him be a part of things once again at the track in 2014.”
Zuidema, a former competitor at Thompson, took on the racing director’s role at the track prior to the start of the 2013 season. Zuidema was not immediately available for comment Wednesday.

Jeff takes a really hands on approach and it is greatly appreciated by all of us in the pit area. The addition of him as Race Director really brought a new life to Thompson in 2013 in my eyes… Morale was up and calls were very consistent all year. It’s a little disappointing the track will only be running a limited schedule in 2014, but I think in the long run, All 3 local NASCAR tracks will benefit from it in big ways.
Shawn he not a former “Competitor”. He’s a former 5 time track champion. Little more then a competitor..
