Whelen Modified Tour team owner Bob Katon confirmed Saturday that Keith Rocco of Wallingford will replace Eric Berndt in the car for the division’s season ending event at Thompson on Oct. 20.

“We’re just making a change for one race,” Katon said. “We’re trying something on my end. I’m out of motors right now and those guys are going to bring a motor for that race.”

Rocco has made 13 career Whelen Modified Tour starts since 2008 with two top-fives and seven top-10 finishes.

“I’m looking forward to it,” Rocco said. “I just want to drive whatever I can drive at the World Series.”

Berndt, of Cromwell, is 19th in the Whelen Modified Tour standings this year after 13 starts with two top-10 finishes.

  1. Don’t forget he will be on TV as well. This is his chance to show the WMT teams that he is ready. And should have a ride.

  2. who cares. what is this like his 3 chance at a WMT ride?
