THOMPSON – And so it begins. Hours upon hours upon hours of racing action crammed into one ridiculously busy Saturday morning/afternoon/evening at Thompson Speedway.

It’s World Series of Speedway Racing Saturday at Thompson Speedway.

At 9 a.m., across a sea of campers in the Thompson Speedway parking lot, the roar of engines woke up weary fans.

Chilly early morning temperatures gave way to some glorious sunshine and a forecast calling for a warmer than usual Fall day.

A few hours of practice will kick off the day for a multitude of divisions, leading into time trials qualifying for the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour in preparation for Sunday’s World Series 150.

The Valenti Modified Racing Series will also have its qualifying heats this afternoon readying for their 75-lap season ending event tonight at Thompson.

The Valenti Modified Racing Series event is one of 10 feature events scheduled for Saturday at the track. Feature racing is tentatively slated to begin at 5 p.m.
