Jon McKennedy Wins Pole For NASCAR Modified Tour Icebreaker 150 At Thompson Speedway

THOMPSON – Jon McKennedy wasn’t in the lineup when the NASCAR Modified Tour kicked off its 2025 on Feb. 8 at New Smyrna Speedway in Florida. 

On Wednesday though the veteran racer from Chelmsford, Mass. made his presence known when the series hit the track at Thompson Speedway for the second event of the season. 

McKennedy won the pole in qualifying Wednesday for the NASCAR Modified Tour Icebreaker 150 at Thompson Speedway. 

McKennedy toured the .625-mile oval with a fast lap of 18.937 seconds. 

It was the fifth career NASCAR Modified Tour pole for McKennedy.

Jake Johnson of Rehoboth, Mass. was second fastest in qualifying with a lap of 18.997 seconds. Johnson was making his first start for the JMA Motorsports team with the series. 

Ron Silk of Norwalk was third fastest in qualifying with a fast lap of 19.101 seconds. 

Austin Beers of Northampton, Pa., who topped the speed charts in practice, was fourth in qualifying at 19.120 seconds. Craig Lutz of Miller Place, N.Y. went fifth in qualifying at 19.138 seconds. 

Luke Baldwin, Chase Dowling, Trevor Catalano, Justin Bonsignore and Patrick Emerling rounded out the top-10 in qualifying respectively.
