
THOMPSON – When it comes to the Sunoco Modified division at Thompson Speedway, the trio of Keith Rocco, Todd Owen and Jon Puleo have proved to be the power of the division.
On Wednesday at Thompson they got together to put on a show.
After some feisty battling at the front it was Rocco, of Wallingford, holding on for victory in the 30-lap Sunoco Modified feature Wednesday at Thompson.
Owen, of Somers, was second and Puleo, of North Branford, third.
Owen made a bid to get under Rocco in turn three on lap 10, but Rocco was up to defending. Two laps later Puleo was on Owen’s bumper in third.
Owen got by Rocco for the lead in turn three on lap 13, but a Rocco cross-over off turn four put Rocco back out front.
Owen and Rocco went side-by-side to the start/finish line on lap 15.
On lap 16 Puleo was able to use a turn four pass to overtake Owen for second. Owen fought back to second place two laps later, but by then Rocco was getting away out front on the way to victory.
Larry Barnett of Moosup topped the 20-lap Street Stock feature. Jay Sundeen of Douglas, Mass. was second and Tony Macrino of Waterford was third.
Zack Robinson of Putnam won the 25-lap Late Model feature. Jake Johnson of Rehoboth, Mass. was second and Manny Dias of Danielson was third.
Dave Trudeau of Mansfield was victorious in the 15-lap Mini Stock feature. Tim Dorr of Gales Ferry was second and Steve Michalski of Brooklyn was third.
