STAFFORD – The SK Light Modified division at Stafford Speedway has turned into the Nickolas Hovey playground.

The driver Alexander Pearl called Winnie The Pooh last season has been a terrorizing grizzly to the competition in 2025 at Stafford.

The Hovey roll continued Friday as he checked out from the competition to win the 20-lap SK Light Modified feature at Stafford.

It was Hovey’s fourth victory in five starts this season. His other finish this year is a fourth place.

Asked what the key to success has been this year and Hovey said: “Keith Rocco Racing, this thing is awesome every time it shows up at the track. Keith [Rocco] and Todd [Ceravolo] put a lot of time and energy into this thing. I’m just happy to be up here.”

Hovey came from the seventh starting position, passed Robert Bloxsom III for the lead on lap nine and then went unchallenged the rest of the way.

“Just holes kind of kept opening up on the top and I just kind of kept it rolling,” Hovey said. “We were able to keep the momentum up there and pass [Bloxsom] and this thing is just awesome. It was lights out after we got to the lead.”

Bloxsom, of Milford, was second and Meghan Fuller of Auburn, Mass. was third.

“We’re just some backyard boys coming here to rough up on these rich kids,” Bloxsom said. “Hovey is a really good driver. I mean that with love. I come here to beat him and that’s a good thing because man the competition here is what brings us here and I love it. They’ve got to be feeling the pressure. We’re getting better and better. We’re so close. I just need a little bit more work and we’ll get there.”

Paul Arute controlled at the front of the field in the opening laps. Bloxsom moved into second place on lap two with Fuller following to third.

On lap five Bloxsom found the low line under Arute in turn one with the pair running the remainder of the lap side-by-side. Bloxsom led at the line to complete lap five and cleared Arute off of turn two on lap six.

Hovey got by Fuller for third on lap seven. On lap eight Hovey used the high line off of turn four to take second from Arute.

On lap nine Hovey went to the bottom lane in turns three and four to pass Bloxsom for the lead. Behind them Fuller passed Arute for third place. By lap 14 Hovey had opened a half second lead over Bloxsom.
